Meet Team Chance Aubry!

Team Chance Aubry has been a part of Mamie’s Poppy Plates for nine years!! Chance’s mom, Shelina, first learned about Mamie’s in 2013 when her son was born at 23 ½ weeks and her best friend Larissa ordered her a plate. She said it was the most touching sentiment she received. She later went on to order additional plates for her family.

When she learned more about the organization, she wanted to support and give back. After the loss of a child, it is difficult to know how support a loved one. Shelina felt like she didn’t have anyone to talk to that would understand her loss but she didn’t want to forget her son either.

“Seeing that plate every days always lets me know there are people who understand all too well what you have been through and can support you if you let them” Shelina hopes through supporting Mamie’s that she is doing that for other families.

Shelina has moved to Washington D.C. but still flies back yearly to be a part of their big event. She wants to represent her son and she takes pride and pleasure in knowing even in her loss she can still be a blessing to other families. Shelina raises funds by sharing her story with family and friends on Facebook and by word of mouth. Her family also attends events and volunteers with her. Shelina is happy to say after 10 long emotional years she is expecting her rainbow baby!! “My journey has been very emotional, long, and filled with love but what is for you is for you, and I have been blessed with another Chance!”
